She spoke of the circumstances that led her to become a professional challah baker and cookbook author, and then segued into a deep explanation of the Mitzvah of baking challah.
The women watched with excitement as they absorbed the techniques shown by Rochie, demonstrating how to prepare the perfect challah dough.
Rochie fine-tuned the process into something manageable and doable even for the skeptical beginner and non-baker. The icing on the cake was when the women filled and braided 3 magnificent doughs - kalamata olive/rosemary, lemon/poppy plus the fool-proof classic challah dough into wreaths, rosettes and even a hamantash!

Beautiful work by Rebbetzin Rochie Pinson, she really put her heart into this book and it shows. Just breath taking artistry in all aspects; from the photos, to the pages of artisan recipes, the cover even has a raised section, some paper is textured, lovely ribbon to mark your spot, 35+ braiding patterns, prayers, secrets to ingredients, so much more and all in one book !! This cookbook is not only a cookbook. It’s truly a work of art. You can see the author really put her whole heart and soul into this book. There is so much she teaches and shares about nurturing life which in turn is expressed by the intentions in baking challah. As well she has so many different types of challah, with different types of flours and sourdough... And then teaches you how to shapes it in so many different and beautiful designs.
The photography is so artistic and by each challah there’s a note of which page to turn to in order to learn how to braid it in that shape. She thought of every detail from cover to cover. There’s even a bookmark so you can save that special recipe or keep your place where you were reading. And then of course she’s teaches you the Halacha behind everything. Truly a work of art and lifetime of learning. It’s really a beautiful book.
